YOUTH AND HUNTING
It is a well known fact that there is a decline in the number of youth that are now hunting.  There are as many reasons for this decline are there are studies.  My own personal feeling is that too many of the youth of today are allowed to sit indoors for way too long of a time and do nothing.  Also the parents of these youth need to get out WITH them and do any outdoor activity TOGETHER.  Of course your idea might be different but in the end no matter "why" we still need to turn it around.

I have found one certain solution to keeping the youth interested in hunting.  Wiks World Camp.  I know Brandon Wikman, the director personally.  I also have been to where he holds the camp and all I have to say is that I wish I were that young again to go through it myself.  He holds the camps during the month of July and the 2008 cost for the day was $60 per person.  Ages 8-15 on one day and 16-21 on another.

Brandon is also one of the hosts of The Next Generation TV show done by Bass Pro shops.  How cool is that to have an outdoor TV show host teach you about hunting.  Please just go to his website,  www.wiksworld.com and see what your son or daughter will be getting for your $60.  You just can't go wrong and who knows maybe they will be with you on your next safari with us.

SHARP KNIFE....HAPPY LIFE
How many times have you gone into your backpack or your belt for your knife to start field dressing and found that you can't even poke through the skin because you forgot to sharpen your knife.  Here is a solution from Klawhorn Industries, Inc.  that will make your life a lot easier.  Remember a sharp knife is a safe knife.

DOES YOUR FEET AND BACK HURT WHEN HUNTING
Does your back hurt while you are sitting or standing in your tree stand?  How about your feet?  When you are on that long hike into the woods to get to your favorite hunting spot does it seem like your boots just got a size smaller?  I recently purchased a pair of "Happy Feet" insoles and I can truly say that they do the job.

SLUG GUN vs. HIGH POWERED RIFLE FOR AFRICAN BIG GAME HUNTING
Why can't we use a slug gun (such as commonly used for deer hunting) on Big 5 type of trophies instead of a high powered rifle like a .375 H&H?  This article was in the February issues of Sports Afield
