Deer in the Dells, 2008

Well, we have braved the snow and had a great time at the SCI Badgerland Chapter in the Wisconsin Dells.  There was a snow storm Thursday night and all day Sunday extending into Monday but Friday and Saturday it was clear for the expo.

The weather did play a part in the lower attendance and a few of the vendors not showing up but all in all it was very well attended by chapter members and their guests.

Our booth was set up and ready at 3:00pm on Friday.  Several people stopped by to inquire of the new "outfitter" on the block.  All were true hunters and a lot of great information and stories were exchanged.

The Friday and Saturday evening auctions were a little light and some of the hunts and other items had to be put on the website because of no takers.  We can understand because of the money issues that are happening in the United States right now.

As Saturday started at noon the foot traffic picked up a bit and more people seemed interested in the various vendors and some of the hunt packages and other items that were for sale.  It made for a great time and the opportunity to get to know people as well.

I have to say that Chula Vista did put on a great dinner meal both Friday night as well as Saturday evening.  The meals preceded the auctions and some Chapter information that needed to get out.  There also was bidding for various guns and hunting accessories.

If you haven't as of yet I would look for a local SCI Chapter and join it.  It is worth the time and effort.
